One last step to PCBs

Today was another short but productive day! We harvested some more word CFL bulbs and successfully extracted two 20+ watt ballasts, which is literally more than we need! We snapped a couple of photos this time (sorry for the poor quality, I forgot my reflex home).

Bromograph ballast

This is a salvaged 25W ballast.

The base plate of the scanner was covered with aluminum foil so it reflects more UV light.

We courageously plugged in the power, and off it went!

Bromograph is on, its UV rays delicately killing our retinas :D

Now, a lamp holder mysteriously vanished, so we have to buy another one, and then we’re golden!

The last thing to do is now set up a timer. We thought about using a PIC with a 16×1 char LCD display (yeah, overkill, but we had a couple laying around). Got a brilliant idea about an innovative timer? Drop by the forum to weigh in!

    Great job!

Still trying to figure out wether the retinas thing is a joke or not, though. xD
